There are many ways to get involved in the magazine besides contributing content, and we'd love to have you. Most positions are on a volunteer basis, meaning you will not recieve regular pay. However, we do expect a certain level of professionalism, even from volunteers.

Requirements for All Positions:

Ad Designer

Sometimes we get requests from advertisers to make their ad artwork for them. In this job, you'll be putting together advertisements for paying advertisers.


  • Must have design experience.
  • Time requirements will vary by month, but will not amount to more than fifteen (15) hours a month.
  • Must have and be proficient in Photoshop or InDesign. (If sufficient capability is shown in another design program, such as GIMP, they will still be considered.)
  • Must be fairly organized and mindful of deadlines and time constraints.
  • An e-mail address associated with your Second Life avatar is a plus.

Kiosk Host Liaison

In this position, you'll be keeping tabs on requests for Bright Metallic kiosks, sending kiosk packages to those who request them, and helping with initial set-up and minor technical issues.


  • Must understand and be able to use Google Sheets.
  • Must be available at least 2 hours a week to check the request sheet and pass out kiosks.
  • Must be friendly and professional.

Event Coordinator

Help organize official Bright Metallic events. You will assist on contacting participants, promoting the event, assisting participants and visitors, and building, set-up, and maintenance of event grounds. May also be a contact liaison for representatives from charity organizations.


  • Must be able to use Flickr. (Preferrably a preexisting account connected to your SL avatar.)
  • Must understand and be able to use Google Sheets.
  • Event experience preferred.
  • Time requirements fluctuate throughout the year. During events, you may be required to be available up to 3 hours a day for up to 2 weeks at a time.

Flickr & In-World Group Moderator

In this position, you'll sort through the Flickr queue regularly and keep an eye on in-world group chat. If you like chatting with people, this is the job for you!


  • Must be in-world 3 hours a day on average.
  • Must check Flickr group periodically throughout the day, approving and rejecting items in the queue.
  • Must have an understanding of how in-world groups work. (How to mute, demote, and eject people)
  • Must remain friendly, professional, and unbiased in all contact representing Bright Metallic.
